He jumped 1.70m at the house carnival, equalling his PB. Then at the SIS carnival early in September Matt came home with 1st place in high jump, 1st in discus, 2nd in shot put, 3rd in 400m and 3rd in the 4 x 100m relay. Throughout both carnivals he broke 4 Berwick Grammar School records for his age group. Over the winter, Matt's passion for AFL saw him selected to try out with the Melbourne Football Club's Next Generation Academy. His athletics training has been complementing his football skills. We wish Matt all the best in his sporting endeavours. ![]() Rounds one and two of AV Shield are now complete and South Coasters are getting into the swing of things: registering for events online and learning how to use the Track Meet App. Results have been posted on the app and on our Facebook page, however there have been some discrepancies noted. Program one at Doncaster and Program two at Nunawading offer the whole gamut of events for the opening round on Saturday the 7th of October.
Also featuring the weekend of the 7th and 8th of October is the first competition for multi-eventers, the Magpie Multis at Clifton Hill. The weekend competition is hosted by the Collingwood Harriers Club and is a great base-line opportunity for competitors. For more information see the AV website. Below is a pic of Vu competing at Magpie Multis last season. AV Shield begins in less than two weeks. Keep your eyes peeled for registrations opening on the AV portal. Remember that both programs run each week this season, at two separate venues across the metropolitan area. Round one at Doncaster hosts program 1, while at Nunawading program 2 will run. Be quick to register! For a full run down of the program click here. AV ShieldFour of our current athletes who competed for Victoria at Nationals in Sydney in April, 2017.
